How to care for your Wood Floors
At the end of every job, I leave with you not only a clean and beautiful floor, but also a Floor Care Folder that has all of the information you need from setting up your rooms with furniture to Regular Care.
You will find that taking care of a wood, vinyl plank or laminate floor is an effortless task. No mopping or harsh abrasives necessary.
The Floor Care Folder goes on to help you eliminate Scratches & Stains.
Of course I will always be personally available to answer any questions you may have about your floors.
Cleaning
You will find that cleaning your new hardwood floors is a pretty effortless task with the right knowledge!
Vacuuming your hardwood floors to remove dust and dirt is the most common practice. Just use the brush attachment or a vacuum that has a hard floor surface mode. Avoid the “rug beater” attachment as it can cause damage to the finish of your floor. Another GREAT alternative is to use a Swiffer dry pad (or any clean micro fiber pad) to remove dust from your floor.
Mopping can be done to remove food grease, animal accidents and muddy tracks. Loba’s Hardwood Floor Cleaner or Bona’s Hardwood Floor Cleaner are the safest bet for cleaning your new wood floors. Their convenient spray mop kits are inexpensive and super easy to use. Purchase either kit from us, online or at many local retail stores. Wood and water don’t mix so be sure not mop to frequently or with too much liquid.
Waxing
After years of animals, kids or heavy foot traffic, your floors may become dull and scratched. To eliminate these scratches and protect your floors for a lifetime, a paste wax can be applied. Unlike with refinishing, this process has an instant dry time and does not require any furniture to be moved. It is very inexpensive to have your floors waxed and by doing so this process will clean, shine, fix those unsightly scratches, and rejuvenate the finish of your floors.
I recommend my customers have this done 1-2 times per year. Usually once in the spring time and one more time right before the holidays. In doing so you will extend the life of your hardwood floors for many years to come!
